Modern Warfare 4 will be the beginning of a new trilogy

Modern Warfare 3 was released onto store shelves with record-breaking numbers. Some people already have gone through the single player story campaign, and have already beaten the game. Gamers are already asking: “What’s next for Call of Duty?” Oh, you mean, Modern Warfare.

Before you continue reading, make sure you played Modern Warfare 3′s story campaign. What I am about to discuss is the nature of the story. Spoilers ahead, you have been warned.

I’ll start from the beginning where cliffhangers begun. In Modern Warfare 2, there were few plot holes in the story: What did Makarov mean by “This isn’t just a message?” And where was Makarov when you [Joseph Allen] were shot by him. This cliffhanger hung over the remainder of the game. No closure, no ending, nothing. You killed Shepherd at the end, to be sure, but there were still questions.

It was answered in Modern Warfare 3 throughout the entire game. One in particular is towards the end of the game. You play as Yuri almost the entire game. Yuri was recruited to Task Force 141 based on trust by Soap. Yuri was helping Soap in the overwatch spot in a church, trying to help Price infiltrate the Hotel Lustig trying to get close to Kamarov. At that moment Makarov makes his appearance known. Makarov starts to call out Yuri, and both Yuri, Soap makes their escape.

It was only minutes later, Price gets enraged, and punches Yuri down the stairs. Price then starts asking “How does Makarov know you?” Yuri then starts having flashbacks starting from the attempted sniping of Imran Zakhaev, then the nuclear bomb that killed 30,000 Marines, however, he tried to stop the massacre at the Zakhaev International Airport in Moscow after being shot by Makarov. This plot twist makes everything seem like it makes sense.

Why? Because people complained about Modern Warfare 3′s graphics being “cut and paste” from Modern Warfare 2, and likewise a “new coat of paint.” But in reality, the developers was trying to keep the consistency intact. Notice that in the flashbacks, the graphics were all intact? We now have a new perspective in the COD4, and MW2 stories than we would have thought.

I don’t think MW3 was designed to be yet, another Modern Warfare game. A marketing gimmick, if you will. World War 3 was a major theme in MW3, and likewise a smart marketing move by Activision. I think Activision was trying to finish off the Modern Warfare story, to make way for a new trilogy in the Modern Warfare series. By doing this, Activision really have opened a door to a new trilogy, and by large: A new engine. There is no cliffhangers, everything is Case Closed.

The next Modern Warfare game is going to be a completely new game, a completely new story, a completely new engine. Everything wiped clean.

I have a feeling that the next Modern Warfare game is going to be on a new console, since we’re only a few years away from the next Xbox, or the next PlayStation console.

I wrote this article in light of people talking about possibilities of the next Call of Duty. Only after a week, people are already discussing the possibility of Modern Warfare 4? One story on our forums is calling COD4 “MW4.” See for yourself. People are questioning the future of Modern Warfare because there’s no indication of a sequel.

All you need to know about Call of Duty Elite

We have come a long way since Call of Duty Elite was revealed to the public. The Call of Duty community has been confused by Call of Duty Elite until the reveal, to ease this confusion, Beachhead Studio talked about their inspirations behind CODElite in three different videos that you’ll see below.

Call of Duty Elite’s marketing slogan is “Play together better.” And likewise, “Connect. Compete. Improve.” is Activision’s Call of Duty Elite message. As such, they’ve outlined it all. See for yourself…

Call of Duty Elite – Connect: Connect with your fellow Call of Duty players. CODElite started in beta phase with Black Ops, so when the platform goes live in 4 days, the service will support Black Ops, and MW3. That’s over 20 million gamers combined. CODElite’s integration with facebook will open the market to 800 million users worldwide.

Call of Duty Elite in a nutshell is a social network for gamers. Allowing you, the player to connect with other like-minded players. You can also create, and find like-minded clans.

Call of Duty Elite – Compete: You can compete with your friends, your clan members, like-minded clans, and rival clans. You can compare your stats with your friends, and compete for fun. Get better with each day you play COD games.

More MW3 Survival Mode gameplay

The last time we had some gameplay footage of Spec Ops, or Survival Mode was before CODXP, it was the Spec Ops trailer that was released.

The new Survival Mode was also featured at CODXP, but there weren’t enough videos to bring information about Spec Ops’ Survival Mode. Now that the time has passed, it’s anyone’s game.

The following videos are a 2 part video taking place in Paris, a map that was featured in Multiplayer videos seen at CODXP. Enjoy!

Here’s what I see from the trailer…

You start off with a pistol
KillStreaks are replaced by words such as “Rampage” and each is incremented
Rampage nets you 500 extra points
Once you clear a wave, the game’s ticker appears, it calculates your stats against your friends’
Combat Performance are calculated by:
The time in which it’s completed
Number of waves completed so far
How many kills you’ve accumulated
Headshots are graded on how well you did
How much accuracy is gathered throughout the wave
Damage Taken is graded on how much damage you took in that particular wave
Your wave bonus is calculated as well
Once you have been given a ticker, “Hostiles Inbound” counter begins
Sometimes your awesome KillStreak isn’t worded and is actually a killstreak
Much like Rampage, KillStreaks are 500 per streak
Your equipment armory features:
Frag Grenade Refill
Flash Grenade Refill
Claymores – 30 max ($1000)
C4 x5 – 10 max ($1500)
RPG-7 x2 – 4 max ($2000)
Sentry Gun ($3000)
Sentry Grenade Launcher ($4000)
Body Armor ($2000)
Self-Revive
Riot Shield ($3000)
The HUD lets you know that your team-mate is ready; press A (xbox 360 version) to ready up for action.

The second part is here:

Here’s what I see so far:

Your weapon armory features:
Refill Bullet Ammo ($750)

Full Length CODXP Multiplayer Briefing video

Call of Duty XP is over now, but content from the event doesn’t seem to stop. Everyone wants to find out more about the Multiplayer aspect of Modern Warfare 3.

I posted Separate Multiplayer Briefing videos and recapped what was revealed during CODXP. But for some reason, Activision thought it would be nice to release a full-length recap of the whole briefing. For those of you who want to see the video in it’s entirety…

We still have more Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 information to come.

The road to Call of Duty XP tournament

8,000 gamers attended Call of Duty XP to see the various events that took place there, see the world premiere of Modern Warfare 3, and not the least; the $1 million tournament. Gamers from all around the world traveled thus far to watch all this happen. All walks of life have seen Call of Duty XP…

Activision held a one million dollar tournament at Call of Duty XP. 32 teams participated in the Call of Duty tournament. The road was long and hard for some, but only one team came out at the top. Activision set up a collection of footage documenting the players and what it takes for a team to get from the bottom to the top. Enjoy…

But who won? It boiled down to Team Infinity against Team OpTic going for the championship gold: 400,000 dollars. If you do not know who Team OpTic is; Team Optic is one of the most well known, one of the most revered online gaming clan in gaming history today. OpTicGaming rose from the pits of Call of Duty 2 online gaming, to stardom with their YouTube channel called OpticNation. They went on to Call of Duty XP against 32 other teams, and won the tournament. The video below is the last 5 minutes of the World Championships tournament…

Congratulations to Team OpTic for their teamwork!

Juggernaut Sumo Wrestling video

The Call of Duty event Zipline got a lot of attention, but not Juggernaut Sumo Wrestling…

Dan Amrich also known as One Of Swords is an Activision employee, and he showed off one of the events at Call of Duty XP called Juggernaut Sumo Wrestling. Basically, two players will step into the ring and wrestle. But sadly, only one walked out victorious and won some kind of bragging rights!

Are you ready to see some sumo wrestling!? Here ya go:

Like it? Yes, no? I liked it! Because you could see the sumo wrestlin’ from First Person.

Beachhead Studios talks about Call of Duty Elite

Call of Duty XP is on-going right now and everyone’s getting their hands on Call of Duty: MW3.

Beachhead Studios has been hard at work on Call of Duty Elite. They’ve been quiet, mum, and tight lipped about Call of Duty Elite, and what it will feature once it is released worldwide on MW3. Activision released a video talking with Beachhead Studios about how Call of Duty Elite plans to “connect” Call of Duty fans together on a large scale.

The video is below:

Robert Bowling shows off The Zipline

Call of Duty XP will have a lot of events going on. You can go into life-size Scrapyard, Training Pit, and Zipline. You can also tour the armory, and life-size Burger Town. You’ll be able to meet Robert Bowling, Major Nelson, Dropkick Murphys, and Kanye West! You’ll be able to buy beverages, and food. You have a chance to win some amazing prizes in Black Ops competitions, and there’s also a $1 million Call oF Duty tournament taking place at CODXP. Most of all, you have a chance to receive a free copy of MW3 Hardened Edition, and be the first to play Modern Warfare 3!

Without further Ado, the Zipline!

There was a teaser for this event at CODXP, but no one really knew what it entails:

I thought it was going to be a part of a game reveal, but guess not, eh?

A look into Sledgehammer Games

Sledgehammer Games was not a name that is very well known amidst controversy surrounding Activision’s various decisions, such as the monetizing of Call of Duty, the whole Bobby Kotick situation where he expressed interest in a pricing model which led to rumors of a pay-to-play model, and then when we found out that there would be more than 2 developers working on Modern Warfare 3, people were concerned. So, Sledgehammer Games has been working hard behind the scenes, and laying low until now.

Call of Duty XP is just around the corner and Sledgehammer wasted no time introducing themselves to the general public:

First Look at Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition

Well, it was expected. It was a question whether Activision was going to release a tiered level version of MW3 like MW2 did – Prestige Edition and Hardened Edition. Robert Bowling the creative strategist at Infinity Ward a few moments ago revealed MW3′s Hardened Edition straight from the factory.

Modern Warfare 3 Harden Edition

Robert Bowling said in a tweet that the full reveal of Harden Edition is going to take place at the Call of Duty XP event that takes place in Los Angeles. Mr. Bowling usually reserves the reveal of collectors editions in his own video. One you can see below for Modern Warfare 2:

With this in mind, I would like to take this moment to reveal CODForums’s second contest. You have a chance to win Modern Warfare 3 Harden Edition courtesy of CarlosX360 Co. Ltd. To learn what the contest is about, and how to win your very own copy of Modern Warfare 3, read this for details. See you in Social Media, folks!
