Spec Ops Chaos mode – Activision and co. asks “How long can you survive?”

Spec Ops Chaos Mode is more of an arcade mode than any other mode in Modern Warfare 3. Your objective is to rack up the highest score, with the highest multipliers. The bad news? Well, you’re going to go up against many enemies at once. In some cases, you’ll have to face other types of enemies. The mode uses standard maps from Modern Warfare 3: Village, Underground, Resistance, and Dome. Are you ready for chaos?

New Modern Warfare 3 Content Collections announced

It has been a while since Activision has released news to just about everyone. Over the last 2 months, there has been nothing but leaks with regarding to the new maps that come out to Call of Duty Elite subscribers. All Activision has done was confirm them left and right on Twitter, but no video or actual news to release to all of us. An educated guess would be that Activision got tired of revealing new maps, and just leave big announcements exclusively to those Content Collections, rather than Content Drops.

Just to keep you up to date as to what Content Drops have been released to Xbox Live members with a Call of Duty Elite subscription since June, they are:

June:
Vortex (Face Off)
U-Turn (Face Off)
Intersection (Face Off)
Arctic Recon (Spec Ops)

July:
Decommission (Face Off)
Off Shore (Face Off)
Vertigo (Spec Ops)

So far, PlayStation 3 owners have been able to enjoy June’s Content Drops. July’s Content Drops will be available alongside MW2′s Terminal which will drop for free. PS3 owners will enjoy July’s drops and MW2′s Terminal on August 16th.

You’re probably wondering what new Content Collections are on the horizon by now, eh? Well, let’s get down to business, then!

Face Off Maps: Intersection, U-turn, Vortex
Spec Ops Missions: Arctic Recon, Vertigo, Light ‘em Up, and Special Delivery

Activision also revealed a new game mode shipping along with this Content Collection. Introducing Spec Ops Chaos Mode. Activision describes it this way:

High-altitude Special Ops challenges put tactical skills to the test, with players navigating armed drones above a Russian destroyer and evading RPGs from the roof of a helicopter-swarmed hotel. Upping the ante further, FACE OFF firefights pit players head-to-head on a six-lane stretch of desert highway, at an abandoned crossroads near a New York overpass, and near the path of a violent tornado.

A whole new way to play Call of Duty, Special Ops Chaos mode delivers the ultimate in arcade mayhem. Experience truly heart-pounding and adrenaline-fueled action while competing for high scores in Resistance, Village, Underground and Dome. Chain kills t ogether against a never-ending onslaught of enemies to increase your combo multiplier and earn performance enhancing perks. Choose your route through each map to optimize weapon pickups, attack, and escape options. Play solo, split screen or online with a friend to take out as many enemies as possible before they take you down or the clock hits zero.”

Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection 4

MW3 Content Collection 4: Available September 6th
This collection is called “Final Assault” which Activision is marking as the final MW3 Content Collection. This collection is jam-packed full of multiplayer maps. The 5 Multiplayer maps are:
Decommission, Parish, Off Shore, Gulch, and Boardwalk.

Remember, every Content Drop and Content Collection arrives first on Xbox Live and then shortly thereafter on PlayStation 3, and PC.

Activision released a press release detailing these maps and then some more:

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season of Content wraps up with the last two Content Collections — Collection #3: Chaos Pack and Collection #4: Final Assault — set to release on the Xbox 360 on August 9 and September 6, 2012 respectively. The Call of Duty: MW3 Collection #3: Chaos Pack, will introduce gamers to the brand new Special Ops Chaos Mode, in addition to offering three all new FACE OFF Maps and four new Special Ops Missions. The final Collection #4: Final Assault will be released on September 6 and deliver five all-new Multiplayer Maps.

By its conclusion, the season of content will have delivered an unprecedented depth and variety of content to fans worldwide — including 29 pieces of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC (including three free maps) and introducing the new multiplayer FACE OFF and all-new Special Ops Chaos Mode and delivering Special Ops Missions in DLC for the first time in franchise history.

Call of Duty: MW3 Collection #3: Chaos Pack offers extensive solo and co-op gameplay for the Special Ops enthusiast, featuring four brand new Special Ops Missions — Vertigo, Arctic Recon, Light ‘Em Up and Special Delivery — and FACE OFF maps — Vortex, U-Turn and Intersection. Introducing a new way to play Call of Duty, Special Ops Chaos Mode delivers a frenetic form of combat that demands players to outlast waves of enemies, while chaining kills on maps littered in power-ups to achieve the highest possible score on fan-favorite multiplayer maps Resistance, Village, Underground and Dome.

The final act of the Call of Duty: MW3 Content Season, Collection #4: Final Assault, is tailored toward hardcore multiplayer fans, and features five all-new multiplayer maps. “Gulch” sends combatants into a forgotten mining town with mine shafts and equipment sheds for cover. In “Boardwalk,” fun in the sun on the Jersey Shore means facing enemies on the beach. “Offshore” and “Decommission” will test players’ sea legs on deadly oceanic oilrigs and among a maze of rotting ocean liners respectively. Rounding out the collection is a trip to the French Quarter in a war-torn New Orleans, where “Parish” pits players against one another amidst the city’s rubble.

Both Collection #3: Chaos Pack and Collection #4: Final Assault will release first on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for 1,200 Microsoft Points, or $14.99. The Collections will be released on other platforms shortly thereafter. The DLC included in the Collections will be made available to Premium Elite members at an earlier date; for current release dates for Premium Elite Members, go to the MW3 Content Calendar website.

In the new video, Activision put a lot of emphasis on the new Face Off mode, and showed off the Face Off maps, as well.

Introducing Modern Warfare 3 Face Off mode

The developers of Modern Warfare 3 revealed the new Content Collection 2, and new DLC details. Along with the announcement, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games let it slip that they’re introducing a new mode called Face Off. Since then, there was not enough information about the mode other than the fact that the mode will release around May 15th, and will come with two new maps. They also said the mode would be comprised of small team games.

In a separate trailer released by Activision, the developers of MW3 went into detail about what Face Off entails. Face Off is a game mode that pits one or two players against one or two players. The Face Off mode itself will be released on May 16th on Xbox Live first, and as usual, the other platforms follow suit. The two maps that release alongside Face Off are Aground and Erosion. And then, two more maps will be released on May 22nd. Anyhow, enjoy the new trailer…
